Get: Weird egg, Hylian shield, Zelda’s letter and lullaby
Meet: Zelda, Impa, Malon, Talon
Once you have crossed the drawbridge enter the door in the first area before you enter the Market. Here you will find jars that you can break and receive rupees that will help you when you enter the market. Enter the room and exit it several times until you have 99 rupees. Then go back to the first room and go left, now you are in Hyrule Town Market. There are a ton of people here and many places to enter.
One is only open at night but you’ll need another item to win it. The place is called the Treasure Box shop and the item is the lens of truth. One shop is not even open yet but later it will. It is called the Happy Mask shop. One named the Bomchu Bowling, you will need to have bought or own bomchus. Go to the Back Ally and try all of the doors until you come to a shop (with what looks like broken wood) and blue things on the shelves. Don’t bother this shop unless you have over 100 rupees. (Which is impossible to get now) So back to the other shops, there is one with a bulls-eye target above it, this is the shooting gallery. The last two ones are the medicine shop (which you can’t use yet) so ignore it. The one next to it is the Bazaar, now enter this shop and buy the Hylian Shield (even though it costs 80 rupees and you can get it for free in the graveyard) it will be a useful defense against Stalchilds.) Just use the shield by pressing R so the Stalchilds just attack the medal.
Back to the Guide. Talk to Malon, she will be the lady with her hands over her chest, she has red hair, a white dress, and she can be found ahead by the place you can see the castle the best. She will be singing. Speak with her. Then go backwards towards the castle. Wait for night, and then go back to the market. Malon will be gone. Guess where she is. Out where you just were, so go back. Speak with her and she will tell you that her father is delivering milk to the castle but he hasn’t came back. (His name is Talon, and he owns Lon Lon Ranch). Malon thinks you can wake him up and bring him back. She also gives you the weird egg. This is an egg that wakes up immensely heavy sleepers such as Talon (as the game progresses, you will notice that talon is always sleeping.) Anyway, get close to the tree and Kaepora Gaebora will talk to you about the castle. From now on, if you want him to go away then say no. After he leaves, if it is still nighttime, then roll into the tree and a gold skulltulla will fall out. Defeat it, and then collect the useful token. Okay, the first guard won’t let you into the castle, but if you go back to Malon then climb the vines you will be able to get past him just fine. Now once on the plateau, go to the opening in the bricks and drop down into it. Open the door at the bottom. You got past him!
This part is so much harder and I was stuck on it for a while. But I figured out what to do eventually. So get to the bottom of the hill and L-target forward. Move slowly to the right until you are not to close to the two guards but not in front of the guard and the other plateau. As soon as this has occurred, then climb directly straight up the hill to the plateau. Now get around the other guards by running forward. DO NOT ROLL I repeat DO NOT ROLL. If you do then the guards would hear you and throw you back to where the first guard was. Once you are at the wall, climb the rocks straight up the wall! Okay, run straight into the water and swim your way out and exit in the corner. Now, walk to your left and you will find the sleeping Talon. If it is day, then L-target him, get close, and take out the egg. (Which should be a newly hatched chicken/cucoo). Talon will wake up. Speak with him and something funny will happen.
Now, pull the crates until one is in the water and another is on top of that one. Climb it, and jump on to the castle ledge. There will be a small tunnel, enter it like you did in the deku tree tunnel. Oh yeah, one more thing, it has to be daytime or the guards will block the entrance to the first checkpoint. But if it is daytime, move to an opening and another weird perspective will be shown, and for a good reason too. Now you have to get past moving guards. Right now it is only one. When it is on the top area, run forward to get to the next checkpoint. This one I was stuck on for a while too. I just learned to memorize their patterns. I also learned that they never look behind themselves. Once you get past them, then you have to get past one guard again. This time, as soon as he is heading up, make a run for it. As soon as you are in the forth checkpoint, there will be two more guards. To get past them just stay behind the second one. Do not roll or come to close to him, or he will catch you. As soon as you are in the final checkpoint, just also stay behind the second guard until you are halfway across the court. Exit in this large opening and you will see another to your left. Enter it, and you will meet up with Princess Zelda.
Walk forward, and speak with her. She will be very surprised to see you. She realizes that you are the boy from her prophecy. She asks you a lot of questions. Even if you say no, she does the same thing that she would if you said yes. It is still better to be polite and respect Zelda. After all, she does look as if she is in desperate need of you. She will present to you, a story. After a while, she will ask if you want to look through her window. Say yes, and you may spy on Ganon, the evil king of Gerudos. Later on, she will finish. She will tell you that her nursemaid, Impa, will guide you safely out of the castle. To find her, walk to the exit. She will look kind of weird, but she is really nice. She teaches you: Zelda’s Lullaby. It goes like this: left, up, right, left, up, right. This is the first, and one of the most useful songs you learn. She safely guides you to the drawbridge where it is still day. Equipt the Hylian shield, just incase nightfall comes to quickly. Equipt it like you did the sword and shield.
